Help Lycée win $100,000!

dsc_2808Lycée has a chance to win $100,000.00 through the Back Off My Charter School Video Contest. Per contest rules, “The Back Off My Charter School Video Contest is designed to provide an opportunity for students, parents and educators in charter schools to share why and how their school is making a difference for children and families, and to educate the public about why they made that choice, in particular.” All Lycée needs to do is submit a three-minute video doing just that.

The contest is in response to a segment featured on John Oliver’s weekly show “Last Week Tonight” that was critical of all charter schools despite all the good work that charter schools like Lycée do for the community. The clip can be viewed here. Note that the show is intended for adults and the clip is not appropriate for children.

ACTION: Record a clip on a cell phone or tablet (no camcorders or fancier equipment allowed) addressing the following questions:
  • Why did you choose Lycée?
  • How do you find Lycée to be different from other schools?
  • What unique opportunities does Lycée offer?
  • What makes Lycée special?
Submit your video to jsese@lfno.org by Thursday, September 22 with the subject line “VIDEO FOR BACK OFF CONTEST”. We will then take your submission to the editing room and hopefully include it in the three minute video.
Submissions will be evaluated for
  • message
  • creativity
  • quality of video
  • participation
Be creative! Be passionate! We look forward to receiving your submissions.
