Dear Lycée Community,

Students in grades Pre-K4 through 7th will return on Monday, February 1st following the same hybrid pre-winter break instructional model. Students in grades 8th through 10th will remain virtual until February 22nd. This is because staffing and scheduling for 8th through 10th grade is combined.

All students will begin Trimester 3 on February 22nd following the model of instruction detailed on the parent survey.

Please complete the Trimester 3 Educational Plans survey by tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 28 at 8:00 AM. If you have already filled it out, we thank you, and please disregard this message. Johnson Campus Survey | Patton Campus Survey

1.5.21 School Closure Update

Dear Lycée Community,

NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) has just announced that all schools will return to distance learning until at least Thursday, January 21st due to the troubling spike in COVID-19 cases in New Orleans. Lycée Français is following this guidance in order to protect the health and safety of our students, families, staff, and teachers.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5th, Lycée will not hold in-person instruction. Tomorrow instruction will be asynchronous, posted in Google Classroom in the afternoon as teachers prepare to move back to the virtual model. Please look for an email for next steps from your child’s teacher.

This has been a very difficult decision to make and we understand that it may pose a burden to families. However, concerns regarding the health and safety of our community is and remains a priority.

Community meal services will continue to be offered. Communications from John Henry Trant is forthcoming. Also, Etre à la Page will be issued tomorrow.

Please stay safe,

The Leadership Team

Prix de Présence 2020 – Art Exhibition!

Exhibition Statement, PTO Art Show: Prix de Présence Art Exhibition, 2020. Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso

This exhibition examines a child’s perspective of the coronavirus pandemic. Children of the Lycée community were invited to respond with visual art; drawing, painting, or sculpture, to something they have seen, felt, or experienced during the pandemic. The resulting artwork provides an unfiltered look into a child’s mind and ability to accommodate our challenging contemporary circumstances.2020 has been an unprecedented year in countless ways. Previously unimaginable changes regarding health, education, work, friends, and community have impacted families across the globe. An unexpected and abrupt adaptation is taking place that is new for all segments of society. Allowing the youngest members of our community a safe space to document their experiences through art has the potential to benefit us all. As we navigate a path forward with healing, the visual voices and art of our children provide much to consider. La Liaison is pleased to present an exhibition of children’s artwork that highlights a unique perspective on these months of isolation, social distancing, quarantine.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
