Wild Things in Lacombe: October 17
Excitement is building, and preparations are underway for the 18th annual Wild Things celebration in Lacombe, on October 17th from 10 am until 4 pm. This free, family event is in conjunction with National Wildlife Refuge Week, a national initiative to connect people to nature and promote outdoor stewardship.
A totally free event, Wild Things allows people of all ages to connect with the great wild resources of our area, learn new skills, make new friends, and get involved in preserving our public lands. The backdrop is the beautiful 110-acre Bayou Lacombe Center, headquarters for the eight National Wildlife Refuges found in Southeast Louisiana.
Great attractions and exhibits through out. Food and live music by New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Band and the Gulf Coast Blues Boys complete the day.
The Friends of Louisiana Wildlife Refuges is a non-profit organization formed in 1996 to support the conservation and education projects throughout the Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges Complex. They have secured many grants for refuge programs and assist with planning Wild Things each October in Lacombe.
